 Puppy
Information
The
well being of all our puppies is extremely important to us. We take all
the necessary actions to insure
that they are in good health and stay that way. The following is a
list of what our veterinarian performs on
our puppies and the age at which he does so. A copy of their
health record will be sent with the puppy.
The remaining shots, heart-worm preventative and routine vet care will
then be the responsibility of the
new owner.
3 days of age: Tails docked, dew claws removed, and vet checked.
2
weeks of age:
De-wormed and vet checked.
4
weeks of age:
De-wormed and vet checked.
6
weeks of age:
De-wormed, 1st set of shots, and vet checked.
8
weeks of age:
De-wormed, vet
checked and health certificates issued.
Our
veterinarian is Dr. Ned Fruge of Eunice Animal Hospital. He is located
in Eunice, Louisiana.
He or his vet techs can provide you with health records of our puppies,
and they can vouch for the regular
vet care of our dogs and puppies. His phone number is

When Dr. Fruge is not available, we have a second vet that we use. He is
Dr. Chris Dupuy of Dupuy's
Animal Hospital. He is located in New Iberia, Louisiana. His phone

We
not only want our puppies to be healthy but happy too. It is important
to introduce them to as many
sights, sounds, smells, and new experiences as possible. For the
first 4 to 5 weeks our puppies and mom
stay in our home with us so that we can pamper them, and of course ohh
and ahh over them. Then, we
introduce them to the outdoors. Where they can run and play to begin
developing good muscle tone.
The following is a list of what we do with the puppies and the age at
which we do it.
3 days of age:
Start supplementing with milk specifically designed for puppies via
bottle. This is to
help mom and also so we get to have one on one contact with each puppy.
2 weeks of
age:
Add additional supplementation to the puppies diet and trim nails.
3 weeks of
age:
Start puppies on their Pro Plan Large Breed puppy food to supplement
mom's milk.
4
weeks of age:
Bathed, and nails trimmed.
6
weeks of age:
Bathed, and nails trimmed.
8
weeks of age:
Bathed, nails trimmed, and ready for their new homes.
We feed all
our puppies and pregnant/nursing moms Pro Plan Large Breed
puppy food. As well as adding nutritional supplements to the puppies
food, we
do the same for mom to help keep her milk supply at the optimum level.
